He was predeceased by: his sister Annie Whisman. He is survived by: his parents, Lyman Whisman and Dr. Salli Whisman; his sister Erin Clare McCabe (JD) of Maryland; his niece Edith Margaret McCabe; his sisters, Meggie Caitlin Pinkney-Atkinson (David) of Lexington and Emma Whisman of Lexington; his grandparents, Dr. Herman Playforth, Elizabeth of Lexington and Ed Hartowicz of Paris; his fiancé Kendahl Holden of Louisville; and his pet Bennett. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Covid pandemic limited Avery's opportunities, but shortly after his return he won his first race at Presque Isle, followed by a $100k stakes race win.
