He is survived by: his wife Gloria Jean Merida; his sons, James Edward Merida, Jr. (Natalie) of Verona, KY, Steven Wayne Merida of Verona, KY and Mike Merida (Lisa) of Warsaw, KY; and his grandchildren, Ethan Merida, Kaycee Merida and Brittany Merida.
