He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Swearingen. He is survived by: his daughter Melanie Polley (Russell); his grandson Christopher David Burns (Ashley); his siblings, Archie Swearingen (Jean), Gypsy Cooper and Jessie Lykins; his sisters-in-law, Charlene Swearingen and Gartha Swearingen; his daughter Janice Ross; his siblings, John "Brick" (Debbie), Bruce (Mary), Creighton, Dudley (Janie), Tom and Carrie (Melvin); and his siblings-in-law, Ernest, Charles, John, James Lee Stafford, Vernon Cooper and Martha.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 1st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Gaydos Funeral Home (159 2nd St, Vanceburg, KY 41179). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
