He is survived by: his children, John Shepherd (Kelly) of Van Lear, Kentucky and Jodi Shepherd of Myrtle Beach; and his siblings, Jack Shepherd of South Carolina, Mary Spears of Johnson County and Barbara Routt of Stone Mountain, Georgia..
