He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Turner Shannon and Annie Ervin Jones; his siblings, James "Jimmy" Shannon, Ralph Shannon, Virginia Shannon, Ruth Shannon Anderson, Mae Shannon Poindexter and Robert "Jack" Shannon; and his son Cary Ervin Shannon.

He is survived by: his wife Nelda Lee Cary; his children, Parker Shannon (Tena) and Debra Roby (David); and his friend Christian. He is also survived by 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 13 great grandchildren.
