He is survived by: his wife Nancy Rhinerson Scales; his children, Staci Freels (Chester), Johnna "Shelli" O'Bryan (Randy), Joshua Scales (Jennifer) of Utica and Rachel Scales of Florence; his grandchildren, Chelsie Reynolds (Wes), Darian Freels, Breayna Gaither, Aliya Gaither, William, Jonathan and Jaclynn Scales; his great grandchildren, Brantley, Oliver, Lincoln and Levi Reynolds; and his cousins, John and Joe Haynes.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital.
