He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Barnett and May Bell Barnett; his wife Ruby Glendean Chapman Barnett; his daughter Shelia Simpson; his granddaughter Gena Thurman; and his siblings, Pete Barnett, Albert Clay Barnett, Coy Barnett, Susie Allen, Barbara Jean Heflin and Dorothy Ralph.
He is survived by: his friend Rook; his children, Trina Goodman (Clarence "Buck" Brooks) and Kenny Lee Barnett of Arizona; his grandchildren, Stacy Simpson, Angie Padgett, Kendra Rudge, Tabitha Geary, Amelia Browning and Laurie Goodman; and his siblings, Wayne Barnett (Helen), Roy Barnett (Shirley), Ernestine Adams (Jim), Connie Cockrell (Floyd) and Alma Faye Kessinger. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a passel of treasured nieces and nephews.
