He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommie Alma (Smith) and Avery Hale; and his siblings, James, Bill, Eugene, Earl B. Hale, Ruby Ann Muse and Nancy Pennington.

He is survived by: his son John Stacy Hale (Angela) of Tompkinsville, KY; and his sisters, Jane Adams of Tompkinsville, KY, Carolyn Adams of Tompkinsville, KY, Dorothy Watson of Tompkinsville, KY, Christine Thornton of Franklin, KY and Lois Cockriel of Bowling Green, KY.. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
