He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Maxey (Sims) and Raymond Maxey; his daughter Sherhonda Lavelle Maxey; and his siblings, Frank, Mitchell Reed, Earl, Arthur Ray Shirley, Enna of Washington, Mary Anders, Alene Tooley, Clarene Kirk, Sue Shirley and Anna Hamilton.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Maxey (Holman) of Tompkinsville, KY; his children, Chandra Maxey Lane of Bowling Green, KY and Kelly Maxey (Mary) of Glasgow, KY; and his sister Katherine Graves of Tompkinsville, KY.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
