He was predeceased by: his mothers, Opal Strode (Tooley) and Esta Strode; his wife Dixie Strode (Proffitt); and his brothers, Carley Short and Claude Strode.
He is survived by: his daughter Charlotte; his son-in-law Dr. Steven Birge of Tompkinsville, KY; his grandchildren, Austin (Kelly Dean Birge) of Lamb, KY and Bailey (Barrett Billingsley) of Glasgow, KY; his great grandchildren, Addison Kate Birge and Boone; his close friend Cecile Boyles of Gamaliel, KY.; and his sister Beatrice Emberton of Tompkinsville, KY..
