He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sidney R. Potts and Joyce E. Potts; his wife Stella; his sister Donna Hines; his children, R. Brent Potts (Natalie), Tara Potts, Jaclyn Meek (Taylor), Derek Russell, Bryan Potts (Kinsee) and Micheal Russell (Missy); his grandchildren, Ashton Russell, Alex Russell, Jordyn Russell, Jackson Meek, Gabriel Potts, Evelyn Meek and Lauren Nichay; and his great grandchild Riley.

“I worked on deck with Barry 45 years ago, and worked for him after he went in the wheelhouse. He was the first captain that put me between the sticks of a towboat. He was the first captain that put the thought in my head of becoming a riverboat pilot. I just retired after 46 years on the water. I am honored to have had the privilege of work with and for Barry. So sorry for your loss. Robert Lance.”
