He was predeceased by: his wife Mabel Jane Hargrove; his brother Louis Hargrove Jr.; and his grandchildren, Heather Smothers, Ricky Sauer Jr. and Jason D. Sauer.

He is survived by: his children, Janetta Sauer, Brenda Milburn (Bobby), Tony Hargrove (Ann), Danny Hargrove (Tami), Jerry Hargrove and Connie Pfaff (Danny); and his brother Robert Hargrove (Benda). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
