He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Hawks and Ruby Hawks (Nuckols); his grandson Justin Abston; his wife Betty Jean Hawks; and his siblings, Roex Hawks, Josephine Hawks, Loretta Pitcock and Katherine Payne.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Hawks of Glasgow, Rob Hawks (Sandy) of Scottsville, Lisa Lanham (Troy) of Biloxi, MS, Dana Browning (Kerry) of Mammoth Cave and Dena Legg (Mike) of Taylorsville; his sister Nina Lawrence of Smiths Grove; his grandchildren, Josh Abston, Trevan Merritt, Mark Hawks Jr., Mikayla Mee, Hannah Legg, Jessica Legg and Dylan Mee; and his close friend Gladys Morley.
