He is survived by: his sons, Dennis Gene Smallwood (Mary) of Haverhill and Charles Wayne Smallwood (Debbie) of Mt. Sterling; his sister Gladys Smallwood Faulkner of Winchester; his grandchildren, Michael Smallwood (Kaitlyn) of San Diego, California, Katie Smallwood Staiti (Scott) of Boston, Massachusetts, Monica Smallwood Mynk (Lane) of Winchester, Kentucky, Micki Smallwood Clark (Joseph) of Madisonville, Kentucky and Nicolas Smallwood (Lindsay) of Richmond, Kentucky.; his great grandchildren, Samantha, Lauren, Emily Smallwood, Maddie, Elena Staiti, Matthew, Dana Mynk, Austin Rice, Cameron, Colton, Carson Clark and Lucy Smallwood; and also Judy Lacy (Jimmy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
