He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse James and Lillie Spears Sowers; his great grandchild Stone Sowers; and his siblings, Lloyd Sowers, Freeman Sowers, Bobby Sowers, Eldean Brent, Ella Mae Girdler, Juanita Gibson and Frances Estes.
He is survived by: his children, James Edward Sowers II of Stanford and Patachia Dawn Fisher (Rick) of Stanford; his grandsons, Justin Sowers of Danville and Jimmy Lee Sowers (Sara); and his great grandchildren, Spencer Sowers, Luke Baker, Amelia Baker and Charlotte Sowers. He is also survived by several other extended family members and friends.
