It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Jane Mitchell of Stamping Ground, Kentucky, born in Versailles, Kentucky, who passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband William "Bill" Mitchell; her parents, Vernon Wash and Arline Wash (Baldwin); her siblings, J. B. Wash, Nellie Sanderson, Teresa Downing and Myra Neeley; her children-in-law, Nancy Mitchell and Mark Smith; her grandchildren, Regina McDaniel and Inger Mitchell; and her close friend Helen Barber.
She is survived by: her children, Debbie Hockensmith (Mike), Fred Mitchell (Betty) of Ruth Smith, C. L. and William "Whistle" Mitchell (Charlotte); her sister Earline Stone; her grandchildren, Christie Pankey (Neal), Chad Hockensmith, Robin Arroyave (Efrain), Tammy VanSteenbergh (Brian), Natalie Cumpton (Ira), Mark Smith II (April), Russell Mitchell, Erin Rice (Colin), Bryce English (Elizabeth) and Chasity Henson; her extended family, Shari Barber, Dean Barber and Debbie Walker; and her close friends, Forrest and Mary Hawkins. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
