He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry and Iva Lee Whitener (Cross). He is survived by: his wife Mary Whitener (Keith); and his children, Gentrie Hampton, Jerry Wayne Whitener Jr., Shonshano Whitener, Tiffany Klein, Loretta Dunn, Gary Keith, Rose Abrams and Jenny Labonte. He is also survived by seven siblings; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
