He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smith and Elizabeth Smith; his son Krist Smith; his siblings, Earl Smith, Fran Madison, Betty Madison and Phyllis Helton; his brothers-in-law, Bill James, Emery Madison and Lance Helton; and his son-in-law James Merritt.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Beverly Hassler; his children, Craig Smith (Paula), Pamela Womack, Kimberly Merritt, Laurie Cooper (Greg) and Kathy Phelps (Ernie); his siblings, Jim Smith, Pat James and Wanda Herald (Bobby); and his grandchildren, Christy Hobson, Patrick Smith, Wesley Womack (Jessica), Robbie Matheson (Sarah), Ashley Shirley (Chris), Tyler Duff, Katrina Champion, Olivia Matheson, Channing Cooper and Keegan Cooper. He is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren; and a slew of nieces, nephews and cousins.
