He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Thomas Smith and Alma Reed Hunt Smith; his brothers, William "Bubber" Smith and Gary Smith; his grandson Sam; his brother-in-law Jack Clark; his nephew Thomas R. Scott; and his niece Tammy Wheeler.
He is survived by: his wife Pam L. Lowe Smith; his children, James Douglas Smith (Becky) of Hopkinsville and Dawn Harbison (Joey) of Smiths Grove; his grandchildren, Alyssa Smith, Nicholas Smith, Abigail Harbison, Maddie Harbison and Noah Harbison; his sisters, Emma J. Clark, Sharon Belcher, Mary J. Harris and Anna Smith; his parents-in-law, James, Lowe and Marie Lowe; and his pets, Milo, Teddy, Blackie and Mystic.
