He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen Wesley Kelly and Madonna Kelly Burgin; his stepfather Aubrey Burgin; his son Todd Kelly; and his daughter-in-law Ava Kelly.
He is survived by: his friends, Steve Turner and David Hinkle; his wife Essie Kelly; his children, Greg Kelly of Pittsfield, IL and Mary Beth Salyers (Larry) of Paducah, KY; his stepson Walter Bingham (Gloria) of Fredericksburg, VA; his grandchildren, Haley Kelly and Nathaniel "Doober" Manley; and his sisters, Connie Petersen and Sue Poninski (Mike) of Mount Vernon, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
