He was predeceased by: his parents, George Pearl and Genrose Hart Butts, Sr. (Wheat); his wife Hannah Louise Butts; his siblings, Carolyn Butts Hensley, George P. Butts, Jr. and William "Bill" Butts, Sr.; his stepmother Carmilla Cinnamon Butts; and his grandchildren, Kaye Lynn Shields, Micheal Johnson, Angelica Goodlett and Ty Walker.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Sue Mitchell of Campbellsville, Nancy Estes (Mark) of Eminence, Brenda Cox of Pendleton, Stepahanie Brooks (Randy) of Bagdad, Wayne Johnson (Connie) of Waddy and Michael Johnson (Katie) of Pleasureville; his sisters, Joyce Hall Shelton of Georgia and Donna Jean Moore of Arkansas; and his niece Marcey Crabtree of Middletown, Several.
