He was predeceased by: his parents, Katie Lee Keene Downs and George Joseph Downs; his wife Eva Lou Sutton Downs; and his sons, George Joey Downs and Charlie Downs, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Charlotte Brown (Larry) of Henderson, KY, Elizabeth Hardin (David) of Slaughters, Rick Downs (Sylvia) of Henderson, Christopher Glenn Cooter and Richard Sutton (Lillie) of Slaughters. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and even a few great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Harris Funeral Home, Inc. (134 N Main St, Madisonville, KY 42431). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at the Zion Brick Church Cemetery.
