He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobert "Chip" Witten and Mary Jane Akers Witten; his former wife Anna Ruth Witten; and his brothers, San Staniford, Johnnie Staniford and Junior Staniford.
He is survived by: his children, Hobie Witten (Teresa) of Sitka, Kentucky, Kathy Witten Castle of Sitka and Tina Gilley of Tampa Florida; his sisters, Mary McKenzie of Sitka and Deloris Doster of Paintsville, Kentucky; his grandsons, Scott Castle, Erik Castle, Tyler Witten and Nicholas Gilley; and his great grandchild Danielle Castle.
