He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sawyers and Catherine Sawyers; and his daughter Rachelle Shambaugh. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Sawyers (Kochert); his children, Roger Shambaugh of Louisville Kentucky and Chasity Hunter (Tyler) of Shelbyville; his great grandchild Case Wayne Hunter; and his grandson Alex Shambaugh.
