She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Newsome and Liza Elswick Newsome; her spouse Monk Smith Jr.; her son Rodney Allen Smith; and her siblings, Jack, Martha, Dolly, Draxie, Daisy, Rosie, Mary, Nellie and Dahlia.
She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Smith (Linda) and Liza Jackson (Jeff); her grandchildren, Holly (Cory), Kelly (A. J.), Ashley (Zack), Nicholas and Austin; and her great grandchildren, Connor, Aiden and Kinsley.
