He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lester Sr. and Margaret Lester; his wife Gertrude Lester; and his daughters, Sharon Shoptaw and Joy Lester.

He is survived by: his children, Ronald Lester (Diana), Steven Lester (Millie), Terry Lester, Julie Prewitt (Dennis), Kenny Lester (Edna), Gilbert Lester (Janet) and Kevin Lester (Liz); and his siblings, Carlos Lester, Carol Bolin, Doris Dezern and Helen Williamson.
