He was predeceased by: his wife Mary L. Kays; his parents, Richard John and Catherine Louise Kays; and his sister Jean Smith. He is survived by: his children, Chris Kays (Leslie) of Mt. Washington and Crystal Kays Warfield (Michael) of Bardstown; and his siblings, James Clarence Kays of Fairdale, Lois Vaughn of Shepherdsville, Joan Stettenbenz of Brandenburg, Mary Jane "Susie" Gunther of Laconia, IN and Cathy Gibson of New Albany, IN. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Maraman Billings Funeral Home (605 Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
