He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Tinnell and Mabel Tinnell (Edlin); and his wife Judy Tinnell (Hasting). He is survived by: his sons, Todd Tinnell (Angel) and Timothy Tinnell (Anne); his grandchildren, Christopher Tinnell (Nicki), Samantha Raleigh (Christian), Micah Tinnell, Aaron Stanley and Samuel Johnson; his great grandchild Phoenix Tinnell; and his sisters, Imogene Simmons, Linda Shepherd (Billy Roy) and Kimberly Turner Tinnell.
