He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. Shay and Jessie Gordon Butts; his grandson Nicky Young; and his siblings, Jerry Shay and Joyce Terhune.
He is survived by: his wife Fronzie P. Shay; his children, Pam Zettwoch (Doug), Carrie Jewell (Leslie), Cathy Nicoulin, Rita Parsons and James Michael Shay (Missy); his grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Michael, Steven, Caitlin, Meighan, Justin and Emily; and his sister Joan McMillin. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
