He was predeceased by: his parents, George Jr. Herbert and Thelma Herbert (Rankin); his son George IV; his sister Peggy Gray; his sister-in-law Jude Herbert; and his niece Nancy Gray.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Herbert; his children, Jennifer Taylor (Jeff) and Joe Herbert (Kim); his daughter-in-law Becky Herbert; his grandchildren, George, John Herbert V (Megan), Aaron Herbert (Brittni), Jaclyn Mills (Jason), Bryna Wicker (Jason) of Ramiro, Gandara, Benjamin Taylor (Mary) and Madelynn Gandara (Edgar); his great grandchildren, Allie, Lincoln, Sadie, Emersyn, Weston, George VI, Amara, Landon, Grayson, Davis, Tate and Lee; his siblings, Alice Herbert, Doug Herbert, Kathy Durbin (Gilbert), Betty Herbert, Greg Herbert (Janet) and Tony Herbert; and his brother-in-law Mike Gray. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to Crusade for Children in his honor.
