It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Loyd William Meeks of Shelbyville, Kentucky, who passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Meeks and Lucille Meeks (Scruggs); his wife Christine Turner; his siblings, Joseph "Joe" Meeks, Elvis Ray Meeks, Chester Meeks, Jr., Virgil Roman Meeks, Thomas Meeks and Mary Mann; and his granddaughter Rachel Erin Poe.
He is survived by: his daughter Elaine Hill; his siblings, Delbert Meeks (Ann Richey) of Lexington, Indiana, Velma Coomer (Delmar) of Scottsburg, Wanda Stidham of Scottsville and Barbara Malcomb (Howard) of North Vernon, Indiana; his granddaughter Heather Kathleen Gilliam (Gary); and his great grandchildren, Cecelia Elaine Taylor (Geoffrey), Hannah Elizabeth Howard, Seth Howard, Johanna Rachel Gillam, Adam Gillam (Cayce) and Ian Gillam. He is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home (465 W McClain Ave, Scottsburg, IN 47170). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial donations can be made in Loyd's name to Shriners Hospitals for Children in c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
