He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Hallie Belle Slucher Saunders; his daughter Carrie Lee Saunders; his grandson Eric Eldridge; and his siblings, Robert Saunders, James Albert Saunders, Frances Saunders, Margaret Hill, Edith Hill, Lucille Rucker and Shirley Moffett.
He is survived by: his children, Jack Saunders (Karin) of Spring Hill, Tennessee and Jill Whitehouse (Ernest) of Taylorsville; his siblings, Paul Saunders (Judy) of Lexington and Elizabeth Sullivan of Frankfort; his stepson Timothy Greenwell (Wendy) of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Jesse Saunders (Kelly), Kristopher Saunders, Andrew Saunders (Alyssa) and Bridget Saunders; his great grandchildren, Emerson, Jones, Olivia and Marcus; and his stepgrandsons, Ben Greenwell and Conner Greenwell.
