He was predeceased by: his son Josh; his sister Elizabeth McClellan; and his father Joe Payton, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Payton of Shelbyville; his children, Jessica Mendosa of Shelbyville and BillyJoe Payton; his stepsons, Stephen and Joseph Fletcher; his mother Rose Payton of Eminence; and his siblings, Joe Payton Jr of Port Royal, Emma Jean Herrell of Frankfort and Josh Payton of Smithfield. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Shannon Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
