He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy; his son Bert Groves; his parents, Elijah Groves of Sharpsburg, KY. and Dora Groves of Sharpsburg, KY.; and his siblings, Ben, John, Tom, Paul, Mary May and Ollie May.

He is survived by: his children, Bill, Melody and Angela. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.
