He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Conway McVey and Laura Triplett McVey; his son Jerry Hatton; and his siblings, Harold Conway McVey, Wayne Thomas McVey and Deborah Alice McVey Corey.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Prater McVey; his sons, Ernie Jones (Stephanie) of Mount Sterling, Kentucky., Ronnie McVey (Sherry) of Mount Sterling, Kentucky. and Doug McVey of Mount Sterling, Kentucky.; his siblings, William "Duck" McVey of Sharpsburg, Elgin McVey (Carrie) of Mount Sterling and Diana McVey Woosley (Larry) of Mount Sterling; and his brother-in-law Lee Corey. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Michael R Gray Funeral Home (89 Slate Ave, Owingsville, KY 40360). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Crown Hill Cemetery (99 Main St, Sharpsburg, KY 40374).
