With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vernon Ray Cates of Sedalia, Kentucky, who passed away on October 2, 2021 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his brother Robert Earl Cates; his grandson Christopher Shayne Grogan; and his parents, Dewey Vernon and Hettie Henson Cates. He is survived by: his wife Mary Sue Cates; and his children, Hal Cates of Mayfield, KY, Mike Cates (Jennifer) of Sedalia, KY and Beth Cates of Sedalia, KY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
