He was predeceased by : his parents, Effie Mae (Wilson) and Clate Smith, Sr.; and his siblings, Thelma Lee Springfield, Bobby Gene Smith, James E. Smith, Clate Smith, Jr. and Carl Smith.

He is survived by : his sisters, Mary Jo Hayes of Sebree, Wilma Smith of Sebree and Esther Springfield of Sebree. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Per the family's request, services will be private due to COVID.
