He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Ward and Lela Lykins Ward; his former wife Melvia Ward; and his siblings, Sanford Ward, Manford Ward, Ercil Ward, Raymond Ward, Hassel Ward, Ervin Ward, Gladys Howard and Rosie Montgomery.
He is survived by: his wife Dottie Ward; his children, Anthony Ward of Salyersville and Audrey Elaine Starr of Grove City; his stepdaughters, Jackie Prater of Salyersville, Janet Nickels of Salyersville and Beth Bailey of Salyersville; and his sister Alice Howard of Mt. Sterling. He is also survived by five grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
