He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Shepherd and Beatrice Allen Shepherd; his daughter Christy Collins; his siblings, Paul Garver Shepherd, Homer Shepherd, Jr., Ricky Darrell Shepherd, Janice Fay Fitzpatrick and Carol Jean Shepherd; and his grandson Preston Scott Shepherd.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Williams Shepherd; his children, Mark Shepherd (Kari) of Prestonsburg, Alan Shepherd (Jodi) of Salyersville and Marsha Litteral of Martin; and his siblings, R. B. Shepherd of Michigan, Bill Shepherd of Salyersville, Robert Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Johnny Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Darcus Shepherd of Gunlock, Debbie Thompson of Prestonsburg and Elisha Hylton of Waldo. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
