He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Salyer and Amanda Minix Salyer; his wife Mae Rowe Salyer; his sons, Roger Wayne Salyer and Timmy Lee Salyer; his granddaughter Garnett Patricia Mae Rowe; and his sisters, Audrey Minix, Ernestine Minix, Bernice Bailey, Edna Carpenter and Myrtle Howard.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Lynn Salyer (Donna Howard) of Salyersville, Troy Wisemond (Billie Salyer) of Salyersville, Patchell Shawn Salyer (Chasity Lafferty) of Prestonsburg, Diana (Delbert Porter) of Salyersville, Gayetta (Harry Jack Patrick) of Salyersville, Bernice (Bruce Howard) of Salyersville, Janice (Darrel Howard) of Salyersville and Sandy (William Earl Howard) of Salyersville; his siblings, Lillian Minix and Wisemond "Blue" Salyer of Michigan; and his daughter-in-law Kathy Salyer of Salyersville, Kentucky.. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
