He was predeceased by: his parents, Morrison Prater and Emma Rose Johnson Prater; his sisters, Irene Sue Prater Howard and Nordia Lou Prater Conley; and his brother-in-law Orville Conley.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Faye Lykins Prater; his children, Jackie Prater of Williamsburg, Neil Prater of Williamsburg, Jeffrey Lykins of Salyersville, Kelea Prater of Williamsburg, Joyce Fannin of Salyersville and Rose Lykins of Salyersville; and his sister Fontainne Prater Ritchie (Jim) of Salyersville. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
