He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest James "Red" Minix and Beverly Harris Minix; and his grandparents, Bryce "Bud", Mae Minix, Leonard Paul and Flora Mae Button Harris.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Lane Aderholt Minix; his children, Kenny James Minix of Philadelphia and Kennelya Rae Minix of Lexington; his siblings, Earnest James "EJ" Minix of Salyersville, Vickie Rose Hall (Jeff) of Lakeland, Lessie Mae Minix of Salyersville, Stephanie Nichole Prater (Scottie) of Salyersville and Rosemary Boyd (Shane) of Van Lear; and his grandson Jason Ryder Minix. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
