He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Jones and Mary Ward Howard; his wife Lorene Gamble Howard; his daughter Tammy Sue Howard; and his siblings, Shelby Howard, Farish Howard, Lester Howard, Henry Howard, Cloetta Jenkins, Flotella Tackett, Gustie Williams and Phyllis Bolen.
He is survived by: his children, Phillip Jones Howard (Kathy) of Salyersville, Kathy LaSha Puckett of Salyersville and Beverly Jane Russell (Dean) of Salyersville; and his brothers, Luster Howard of Salyersville, Charlie Howard of Salyersville, Kelton Howard of Oil Springs, Lewis Howard of Oil Springs and Dallas Howard of Salyersville. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
