He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Helton and Goldie Manns Helton; his son Grant "Curly" Helton; his siblings, James Helton, Tommy Helton, Janet Stevens and Ruby Malone; and his great grandchild Miliana Helton.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Faye Watkins Helton; his daughters, Amanda Jean Helton of Salyersville, Jaime Lynn Helton of Salyersville and Alice Helton of Salyersville; his siblings, Donald Helton of Salyersville, Denzil Helton, Billy Helton of Salyersville, Jerry Helton of Salyersville, Glistina Prater of Salyersville, Nedith Adams of Salyersville and Peggy Smith of Catlettsburg; his grandchildren, Keisha Dawn Montgomery (Hall), Kerry Grant Helton, Jeremy Keith Reed, Joshue O'Bryan Reed, Jayden Lee Reed, Charles Grant Helton, Tanika Nasha Helton and Aaliyah Sky Barnett; and his great grandchild Noah Grant Montgomery.
