He was predeceased by: his father Clarence Doyle Shackelford. He is survived by: his mother Retta Sue Hamilton Shackelford; his wife Kaay Dillahunty Shackelford; his daughters, Abby (Ken Detweiler) of Crossville and Claire Shackelford (Jim Ralston) of Rochester; and his brother Steve (Lisa Shackelford) of New York.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Burning Fork Community Church (521 Old Burning Fork Rd, Salyersville, KY 41465). A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
