He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Salyer and Leneva Fletcher Howes; and his brothers, Henry Eugene Howes, Luster Howes, Arnold Kermit Howes, Ronald Howes and Darrell Dean Howes.

He is survived by: his daughters, Dusty Miller (Kristopher) of Mt. Sterling and Heather Salyer of Salyersville; and his grandchildren, Haley James, Easton Miller, Alexis Picklesimer and Lane Picklesimer.
