It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Amanda Francis Prater (Salyersville, Kentucky), who passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Gullett and Florance Lemaster Gullett. She is survived by: her former husband John Howard Jr.; her husband Lucian N. Prater; her sons-in-law, Frankie Howard and Christopher McGarey; her children, Florance Marie Howard of Elkhart, Dora Ann Collett (Jerry) of Salyersville, Gay Dawn McGarey of Lexington, Danny Ray Howard (Haroletta) of Salyersville and Johnnie "Junior" Howard (Darlene Daniels) of Louisa; her grandchildren, Jackie Gibbs, Johnny Howard, Tommy Campbell, Amanda Howard, Brandy Howard, Joshua Howard, Jeremy Collett, Jennifer Howard, Sarah Foster and Morgan McGarey; and her great grandchildren, Jordan Gibbs, Josie Gibbs, Isabella Howard, Keaton Howard, Emily Howard, Haley Howard, Dawson Foster, Lexi Holbrook, Aubree Howard, Addy Howard, Bailey Kitts, Peyton Howard and Dakota Daniels. She is also survived by two great-great grandchildren, a host of family and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Salyersville Funeral Home (694 Parkway Dr, Salyersville, KY 41465). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Salyersville First Baptist Church.
