He is survived by: his wife Bettina Maffett Merritt; his children, Shannon Hunt Zehnder (John) of Louisville, KY, Paul Merritt II (Linda) of Winchester, KY and James Merrit of Lawrenceburg, KY; his sister Frances Foley of Versailles, KY; his grandchildren, Emily Lawless (Jay), Michael and Daniel Merritt; and his pet Lucky Pierre.
