She was predeceased by: her parents, John Royal and Nannie Bush Carpenter; her husband Haskel Vernon Harlow, Sr.; her former husband Jack Griffin; her siblings, Jane Adkins, James Ercle Carpenter, Elmer Carpenter, John Carpenter, Jr., Carl Carpenter and Wayne Carpenter; and her children-in-law, Kathryn Harlow and Roland Vess.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Vess of Falls Church, VA, Haskel Vernon Harlow, Jr. of Ashland, Robert "Jeff" Harlow of Arlington, VA, James Harlow of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Mark Harlow (Betsy) of McLouth, KS and Cathy Sue White (Darrell) of Manassas, VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many friends and extended family.
