He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennie A. Skaggs and Ella Mae Skaggs; his brothers, Dennie and Steve; and his close friend Don Payne.

He is survived by: his wife Carla Bondy; his children, Peggy McNair (Tom) and Andy Skaggs (Megan); his grandsons, Jack, Evan and Matthew; and his sister Margaret. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
